Dakota Hymn
Many and great,
oh God, are Thy things
Maker of
earth and sky
Thy hands
have set the heavens with stars
Thy
fingers spread the mountains and plains
Lo at Thy
word the waters were formed
Deep seas
obey Thy voice.
Grant
unto us communion with Thee
Thou
star, abiding One
Come unto
us and dwell with us
With Thee
are found the gifts of life
Bless us
with life that has no end
Eternal
life with Thee

Psalm 23 (Dominus regit
me)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not be in
want.
You make me lie down in green pastures
and lead me beside
still waters.
You revive my soul
and guide me along
right pathways for your name’s sake.
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death,
I
shall fear no evil; for you are with me;
your rod and your
staff, they comfort me.
You spread a table before me
in the presence of those who trouble me;
you have anointed my head with oil,
and my cup is
running over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall
follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord for ever.
Glory to the holy and
undivided Trinity, one God:
as it was in the beginning,
is now and will be for ever. Amen.
Acts
2:42-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to
the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done
by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common;
they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all,
as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple,
they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts,
praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord
added to their number those who were being saved.

The Responsory
Death is swallowed up in victory.
Where, O death, is your sting?
Christ is risen from the dead,
the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Death is swallowed up in victory.
The trumpet will sound and the dead shall be raised.
Where, O death, is your sting?
We shall not all sleep,
but we shall be changed.
Death is swallowed up in victory.
Where, O death, is your sting?
1 Peter 2.19-25
For it is to your credit if, being aware of God, you endure pain while
suffering unjustly. If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, where is
the credit in that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you
have God’s approval. For to this you have been called, because Christ also
suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his
steps.
‘He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his
mouth.’
When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not
threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. He himself
bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live
for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were going
astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of
your souls.
Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.
Thanks be to God.
Gospel
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
according to John.
Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ.
John 10.22-30
‘Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not
enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a
bandit. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper
opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by
name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of
them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will not
follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the
voice of strangers.’ Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did
not understand what he was saying to them.
So again Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I
tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and
bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters by
me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes
only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it
abundantly.
The Gospel of Christ
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Sermon
The Apostles’ Creed
Let us confess the
faith of our baptism
As we say,
I believe in God,
The Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and
earth.
I believe in Jesus
Christ,
His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the
power of the Holy Spirit
And born of the Virgin
Mary.
He suffered under
Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died,
and was buried.
He descended to the
dead.
On the third day he
rose again.
He ascended into
heaven,
And is seated at the
right hand of the Father.
He will come again
To judge the living and
the dead.
I believe in the Holy
Spirit,
The holy catholic
Church,
The communion of
saints,
The forgiveness of
sins,
The resurrection of the
body,
And the life
everlasting. Amen.
All Things Bright and Beautiful
Refrain:
All things bright and
beautiful,
all creatures great and
small,
all things wise and
wonderful,
the Lord God made them all.
Each little flow'r that
opens,
each little bird that
sings,
he made their glowing
colors,
he made their tiny wings.
The cold wind in the
winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the
garden,
he made them, ev'ry one.
The rocky mountain splendour,
the loon’s wild haunting
call,
the great lakes and the
prairies,
the forest in the fall,
He gave us eyes to see
them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has
made all things well.

Blessing of
the Seeds, Soil, and Water
We pray for the soil, a
gift of God’s creation.
Giver of life,
we give you thanks that
in the richness of the soil,
nature awakens to your
call of spring.
We praise you for the
smell of freshly tilled earth,
the beauty of a cleanly
cut furrow,
and a well-plowed field
and tilled garden.
We ask that you help us
to be good stewards of this land.
In the name of the one
who gives us new life,
Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
We pray for the seed, a
gift of God’s creation.
Creating God,
you have given seed to the sower
and bread to the
people.
Nourish, protect, and
bless the seeds
which your people have
sown in hope.
By your loving and
bountiful giving,
may they bring forth
their fruit in due season.
Through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
We pray for the rain
which waters the earth, a gift of God’s creation.
Sustaining God,
we receive the fruits
of the earth from you,
We give you thanks for
the smell of the earth after rain,
for its welcome cooling
and its necessary
hydration for the land.
We ask that the rain
come as often as it is needed
so that the crops may
flourish
and the coming harvest
be indeed bountiful. Amen,
Blessing of the Herds
And
in the fiftieth Psalm God says:
I
will take no bull-calf from your stalls;
nor he-goats out of your pens;
For
all the beasts of the forest are mine;
the
herds in their thousands upon the hills.
I
know every bird in the sky;
and
the creatures of the fields are in my sight.
Let
us pray:
Almighty
God, we ask your blessing
upon
the animals of our corrals and pastures,
May they have good health, adequate feed, plentiful
pastures,
and companionship of the flock/herd.
Give
them good stewards who will be faithful in their care,
feeding
them, and protecting them from danger.
Bless their relationships with humankind and other living
things
so that, together in the web of life
which you have brought into being,
all creatures may fulfill your purpose. Amen.
Gracious
God,
we
ask that you would give us will
and
wisdom to be good stewards
as
we tend these your creatures before us
whom
you have given into our care.
Make us always aware of their needs as well as our own,
so that your whole creation may proclaim your praise.
We ask this in the name of your son
Jesus Christ our Good Shepherd. Amen.

Trusting in the compassion of God
and gathering our prayers and praises into one,
let us pray as our Saviour taught us,
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
